Zero Suit Redesign

Zero Suit Redesign for the Metroid Club contest.

I based the colors and basic profile off of the Justin Bailey suit from the first Metroid game.
The hood is to help keep her hair (mainly ponytail) from getting caught in her helmet when she puts it on or takes it off. I was inspired by astronaut suits when they don't have their helmet on.
The hand/glove is designed to be scanned by the arm cannon to determine what beam to use. The cannon recognizes how many contiguous white blobs it sees from the top of her hand and how they're spaced to determine the beam to use. This is inspired by Metroid Prime which when using the X-Ray visor reveals Samus rearranges her fingers to pick a beam.
The redesigned back icon is meant to slightly resemble a Chozo statue holding an item.
And perhaps most importantly (to me), there are no wedges or high heels.

Just for fun I thought that maybe this suit and hair color could be Samus' style before Metroid/Zero Mission. In her early days she wore the green military outfit and had short hair as revealed in Other M. Pre-Metroid would be this suit, and Samus dyed her hair green for the fun of it. After the events of Zero Mission she alternated between the blue Zero Suits and a black bikini and sported long blonde hair.

I will mention that I like the two official Zero Suits we've had so far. The only things that drive me bonkers are the wedges and rocket heels.

I'm satisfied with this drawing but would've loved to flesh this out witth details. Unfortunately I ran out of time. But I'll use the excuse that the Justin Bailey outfit isn't very detailed either, hehe.
